About TGIM Work-Life Blog
I’m writing my very first entry on January 1, 2007. It’s a brand new year and I’m excited about this brand new blog!
Let me start by introducing myself: I’m Eileen Chadnick, a certified professional coach and author of this TGIM Work-Life blog. I am also Principal of Big Cheese Coaching, a coaching and consulting company that is all about inspiring TGIM attitudes, aptitudes and altitudes for leaders at work and in life. While Toronto-based, my clients come from regions across Canada, the U.S. and even the U.K.
The foundation for my work (and this blog) is really anchored in one BIG question: What is it to love your work… and your life? I’ve always lived in that question personally and now as a professional certified coach, its my professional calling (see about Eileen)
While framed simply, this is indeed a BIG question and it underscores many other questions and areas of interest gaining ground among professional circles within HR, coaching, consulting, etc. For instance, this query is linked to employee engagement, talent management, career management, leadership development – and other areas.
I’m passionate about all these areas: I write about them, read about them, learn about them — work them! And there’s a growing community of like-minded folks – professionals and those individuals who have a stake in creating great work-lives. That’s why I’ve started this blog. To build and connect to a community of professionals and career/life-minded individuals who want to be in the conversation about what it is to create a TGIM work-life (for yourself and/or your organization).
TGIM Work-Life is for at least two groups of people: 1) people who manage talent and employee engagement or are responsible for others in their organizations (e.g HR, leaders, managers, etc.), and 2) career and life-minded people who simply want to get more fulfillment and success out of their own professional and personal lives.
We’ll cover topics that meet the interests of both. For instance, we’ll write about news, trends and strategies that develop and engage talent and create great TGIM cultures; we’ll explore various facets of leadership (personal and professional); we’ll offer practical tips and tools to manage stress, build resilience and foster trust and authenticity at work; and we’ll even explore ways to manage those Sunday/Monday occassional blues — recognizing that even those that love their work sometimes get weighed down by the BIGness of the start of a new week (or after holidays, etc.).
This list goes on….there’s a lot of road ahead and I hope you’ll join in the journey and collaborate, contribute, write, discuss…..afterall, blogs are meant to be two-way conversations!
So let me end this post by beginning our conversation with that BIG enduring question: WHAT IS IT TO CREATE A BIG TGIM WORK-LIFE?
